Feedback :)

1.) Why did you choose to play the bass? [Jasper Santos]

- It wasn't a front made decision. I went to play the regular 6 - string first. But then me and the boys wanted to start a band and nobody ever knew how to use the bass. The good thing is, I idolized Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy (who was a bassist) and decided to give it a try. I instantly fell in love with it. It had a feel that I sort of knew was more fitting for me, and I was more comfortable handling it.

2.) What is the best kind of Bass Guitar? [Chris Camangon]

- Technically the best ones would be those made my Fender and Gibson. Both brands hold the best reputation and innovation eversince the instrument came to be. However, as a musician, I do believe that there is no such thing as "the best bass". It may vary in size, brand, features or design, but it will always come down to the user or the musician who plays it. If you ain't comfortable with it, then i doubt that It would make pretty sweet licks or sounds. After all, in music, technicallity is pretty short lived, its passion and emotion that makes the stuff of legends.

3.) What is the best thing about being a bassist [Richard Cayetano]

- The best thing about being a bassist, is also the best thing about being a musician. It's the commanding right to be able to express, unite, beautify, develop, learn, and intensify what is, and what may be. As a musician though, I of course see the highlights in form of gigs or shows, sessions with fellow musicians, and of course the creative process that I believe we all have within. This pretty much allows me to become a better person and perhaps a better advocate for my chosen causes.

English Two and Me

The class as described technically is of course about speech and its related principles, and i do expect to learn a lot about it. Speech itself may seem pretty easy since we all know how to converse even in the most simple ways. However, there are certain elements and settings where a person is required to act and present one's self in a rather different and more guided manner. It is in these circumstances than I do believe would be most beneficial not only to me, but to my fellow classmates as well. We are after all, growing into different stages of our lives, where the simple and mediocre cannot land easily with a rank of good.

I would want to learn more about the proper handling of one's self in a less laid back scenario or perhaps even in a formal setting. This I believe is not always presented and thought to some students today, even though it may be beneficial in terms of real life application. A good lesson to consider is the methodology of actually organizing a set of ideas or thoughts, and being able to present them in a very effective and attention-grabbing manner. A skill such as that may very well help us in numerous circumstances. Of course, I would not forget, I would also want to be trained and thought how to keep my composure in various speech requiring situations and also to exert confidence in execution and post - presentation procedures.

To be able to attain all the skills and lessons that I personally think is needed, may I suggest a more supportive method than that of the usual. Thus, this includes the use of group work, or even the act of presenting with a partner. This may help us test the water slowly as not to be shocked with the sudden terror of public speaking. Also, since our class isn't about writing literally, I do think that oral means of examinations and assessments can be the more practical approach to conducting the class and contributing to its partial completion.

All of which I personally believe may help us well in class, and that to grow together as better individuals who are ready to take on the real world, one step at a time.

Introduction (Richard Cayetano)

Good Morning to you all. Today we are blessed to have many great speakers who of course share equally great topics to share, and our next one is no exception.

He is a very good friend of mine, and i have personally known him for quite sometime. He was born in the island of Palau, and moved to laguna after a few years. A former member of the LBAS student police, and has served in multiple tasks that include the implementation of student discipline. He was also a member of the LBAS basketball varsity team, which lasted for the latter years of his high school life. Despite being in many technical roles, he was also able to develop his creative side through music. He was a former member of L.U.D. and proceeded to be the lead guitarist of Privado. Currently he is taking up BSBA - Entrepreneurship here in this very educational institution and is now in his 4th academic year

Today, he is to present a topic that not most of us would have thought relevant, but will surprise you with the way simplicity and practicality can actually influence our lives. So without further adieu, Ladies and Ladies Men, I present to you Richard Cayetano.

End-of-the-Term Self-assesment

a) Do you think that you have gained or improved on your public speaking competency in the duration of ENGTWO?

-
I would have to say yes. With all the training and exercises that we were able to do in class, that was the most number of public speaking sessions that i have ever had in a span of a few months.

b) If not, why do you think so? What prevented you from learning or acquiring skills? If yes, what skills are these and how much improvement have you noticed?

- I definitely feel a lot more comfortable in terms of presenting myself and my work in front of other people. Also, there was a big difference in my organization of data as well the manner by which i would structure them. This changed a lot really, and i sort of learned to respect my craft and how to not just do it for the sake of doing it.

c) For those who answered yes, What are the top 3 public speaking skills that you find most valuable and would like to continue to develop in yourself?

- Least of the three would be the appropriate way to structure a presentation and its flow, 2nd would be the way I'd carry myself in front of other people while keeping it cool and clean. I guess the most important would be the ability to ask and get attention from my audience. It's not the easiest, but I think if you get them interested, you're halfway done.

d) For everyone, what other skills do you think you have not had the chance to learn much during the term but would try to practice and acquire in upcoming classes in DLSC?

- I really can't tell. Since the structure of ENGLTWO and the way its being taught pretty much covers up all the necessary skills and perks that one would need in terms of public speaking and presenting one's self. If there would be anything else, excuse my lack of insight, but to me, the course is complete enough.
